The Function of Blogs :: Internet
The Function of Blogs There are such a significant number of things one could do with the generally new mechanism of online journals. They can be nearly anything an individual needs: a diary, a compilement of connections, a scrapbook of data, or even a conversation board. The main definition I've seen that can include it is that they are postings in turn around sequential request. Online journals are the most up to date Internet fever, yet do they fill a need? At an early stage, experienced web clients, who knew web-programming language, kept web journals to monitor their mindââ¬â¢s wanderings. They resembled a Skippers sign on the mission of revelation (Brown). For the normal Internet surfer, they got rid of locales worth review from the rest. Presently, destinations like blogger.com have taken the work with web dialects out of blogging, freeing it up to the overall population. New age web journals are viewed as vain independently publishing by experienced bloggers (Fitcher). I can see their point, the same number of unpracticed bloggers appear to babble about themselves as though they are to be applauded. They just appear to need consideration. This has made me wonder, what is the purpose of individual sites? All web journals must have some amusement esteem; in any case nobody would keep or read them. Diversion isnââ¬â¢t a truly honorable reason, however it has more an incentive than sitting in front of the TV. It is smarter to find out about news occasions and expressing your conclusion on it than simply hearing it. In any event then youââ¬â¢re building up your thoughts, and the perusing and composing will help create relational abilities. Bloggers figure out how to place more idea into what they state, or simply the demonstration of composing day by day can assist contemplations with streaming into words. A bloggerââ¬â¢s considerations may come from a news story they as of late read. For this situation they ordinarily connect you to the article and express their sentiments, or point out various parts of it. Their remarks are somewhat of a single direction conversation driving you down their train of contemplations. You can for the most part answer to what the creator says, however the time delay in reactions may result in the authorââ¬â¢s absence important to questions presented. Walt Crawford tossed an intriguing idea my way in his article, Announcing Cubed: Media about Media about Media. Websites are simply one more type of media inclusion. Our media influences how we think by and large. It is continually evaluating different types of media, and numerous sites are no special case (Crawford).

If the term lazy is part of your self-talk, there are likely more negative and critical statements that come from your inner critic on a regular basis. You may even bring out your inner critic in an attempt to motivate yourself. What happens? Your critical voice focuses on all of your flaws and shortcomings, rather than any existing strengths and positive attributes that could help you move forward.Listening to criticism from o thers. As we learn about ourselves and the world through our experiences, we are receiving feedback from others that helps to shape our self-concept. When someone important to us has called us lazy in the past, it can really impact how we see ourselves even into adulthood. We may also hear people criticize our efforts in our adult life, leaving us to feel self-doubt or discouragement. Not creating a plan of action. When we find inspiration and become excited about a new goal, we can forget the importance of creating a plan. Our excitement for the goal can cause us to move fast and with a lot of passion, but turn into a sense of being overwhelmed and feeling aimless. What to Start Doing Fortunately, there are plenty of achievable steps you can take to turn things around or stay on track with your goals: Create small, attainable goals. You can still desire to reach the pinnacle, but break that huge goal down into smaller goals that will help you feel more accomplished and motivated to continue climbing. As you consider the big picture, remember the key steps that will be needed to get there and write them down. If needed, break those down into even smaller or shorter-term goals. Take time to develop a plan. Sit with yourself for a moment as you reflect on your desires and goals, considering those small and attainable steps you will need to accomplish in order to get there. Be realistic about the amount of effort, time, money, help or other factors involved in meeting this goal. If you still find it difficult to identify strengths, ask friends or family what they see as your greatest strength. You can also find strengths assessments online, such as the Values In Action inventory.Celebrate the small victories. Celebrating your victories as you accomplish the small goals, or even as you overcome setbacks, can help you continue moving forward. The pride we experience in meeting our goals can help reinforce more positive self-talk. We experience increased self-efficacy with each accomplishment, which can help us find long-term success.Recruit support. It is okay to ask for help along the way. We thrive when connected to important people in a positive, healthy way. Allow those important support people to be a part of your experience. You may want them to celebrate with you along the way or may want to turn to them in times of need when you experience a setback or obstacle. Finding reassurance and encouragement from important people in our lives can help us develop greater resiliency. Your Physical Health Our feelings of laziness can also be influenced by how we are taking care of ourselves physically. We can learn new goal-setting habits and work to challenge our negative thought patterns, but we also need to consider what we are doing for our bodies. Taking care of our physical health can help set the stage for increased energy which, in turn, can allow us to put these other positive changes into action. Food What we eat plays a significant role in how energetic we feel. When our schedules dont allow much time for food planning and preparation, we might find ourselves reaching for quick options on the go, options that offer little nutritional value to help us maintain adequate energy levels. Foods higher in protein, for example, can help our bodies to maintain more stable blood sugar levels and keep us from feeling drastic ups and downs in our energy throughout the day. Examples of food and drink that can help increase energy include: AlmondsSalmonBananasYogurtOatsDark Leafy GreensChickenWater Examples of food and drink to avoid if you want increased energy include: French friesCandyBreadSugary drinksDonutsDessertsAlcohol Although sugary foods can give us a temporary boost of energy, it is very short-lived and can leave us feeling as if our energy levels have bottomed out. The timing of our meals and snacks can impact our energy levels as well. Eating smaller meals through the day can help us maintain steady levels of energy, compared to eating larger, heavier meals that often leave us feeling tired. Exercise When we are tired and feeling lazy, the last thing we likely want to do is exercise. However, moving our bodies can help increase our energy levels and overall feelings of productivity. Research has shown that even just low to moderate levels of exercise can have a significant impact on our energy levels, helping to reduce fatigue. Ways to incorporate more exercise can include: Walking your dogJogging with a friendHiking with a groupAttending a group fitness classTrying a new yoga class Sleep Our sleep patterns can greatly impact our energy levels. If you tend to feel lazy, you might think you are getting too much sleep at night or find yourself taking extended naps during the day. Creating a healthy sleep routine can help you maintain a consistent sleep schedule and, in turn, help you feel more balanced and energized to take on tasks and feel more productive. If you are a night owl or a napper, this transition could take some work. However, being able to start your day with increased energy, and being able to maintain your energy levels through the day, make the sleep routine worthwhile. What to consider in your sleep care routine: Try to go to bed at the same time each nightAim for 8 hours of sleep per nightLimit screen time at least an hour before bedLimit caffeine after lunchtime Stress Management Being constantly overscheduled, with demands placed on us in multiple areas of our lives, can leave us feeling physically and emotionally drained. In these moments we can find it difficult to take active steps and make decisions because we are exhausted. Feelings of exhaustion can leave us feeling as if we are lazy when we are actually stressed and overwhelmed. According to the American Psychological Association, some helpful ways to manage your stress include things like: Incorporating exercise and movement into your dayFinding reasons to smile or laughIncreasing your social supportPracticing meditation or prayer daily Boundaries A significant element of stress management is making sure we are using our time wisely. It can be easy to say yes to our co-workers, our spouse, our children, and friends. So easy, in fact, that you may find yourself unable to actually fulfill all of what you have committed to. Look at where you are spending your time, take inventory of unfinished tasks on your to-do list, consider where you can politely say no so that you can use that time for things that need your attention and energy. If the idea of setting boundaries is new to you, the first couple of steps would include giving yourself permission to do it and to start with small things. You may be afraid of how people will respond to you and that is okay. Remember that your goal here is to improve self-care, increase energy and feel empowered to tackle the tasks and goals that are important to you. Creating time for yourself is key and setting small boundaries around your time will help you do just that. Dont Get Distracted With Comparison Lastly, when we feel lazy it is natural to look around and think everyone else is getting it right except you. Dont allow yourself to get caught in the distraction of comparing yourself to others. Remember, our inner critic is a roadblock to our productivity and can keep us feeling stuck. Allow yourself to show up differently in your life and remember that the journey is uniquely yours. Taking small steps toward better self-care, increased energy, improved goals, and healthy boundary setting can help you stop feeling lazy in no time. Prioritizing and taking consistent action steps are the key to long term change and there is no better time than now to take those first steps.

Going into the process with an action plan will help you feel more confident and peaceful, as well as give you something to refer back to when you feel discouraged or have a setback.Focus on your strengths. If you are used to an inner critic that focuses on your flaws and shortcomings, you will find great ben efit in taking inventory of your strengths. Do you find it hard to think of any personal strengths? Consider any challenge you have been through and reflect on what personal strengths you used to get through that experience.

History of Malcolm X Essay - 2750 Words
History of Malcolm X (Essay Sample) Content: Name:Institution:Failures of Manning Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s Malcolm X: A Life of ReinventionIntroductionMarable Manningà ¢Ã¢â ¬s Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention attracts much criticism for its alleged failure to give an accurate account of the life of Malcolm X. In Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s biography of Malcolm X, there are a number of discourses by the biographer that depict Malcolm X in a fashion that many Americans and readers interested in this history would find repelling and disapproving. From the vast number of critics that have contributed to discrediting the work of Marable, Jared A. Ball and Todd Steven Burroughs perhaps offer the most likeable and formidable argument against the claims made by the biographer. The two authors, in their book A Lie of Reinvention: Correcting Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s Malcolm X, respond to the claims by Marable in what is a critical work against those of the biographer, who is seemingly biased and conceited about his opinions about Malcol m X.An accurate account of Malcolm X is probably found in his autobiography assisted by Alex Haley. Malcolm X, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, with the assistance of Alex Haley is a respected autobiography that offers credible accounts of the life of iconic Malcolm X and is certainly a reference material that biographers such as Marable Manning are reported to have used to make their own works on the icon. Marable borrows from the autobiography and makes his assertions from the events within the autobiography as will be later explained in this paper. Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention is probably a piece of work that requires some acclaim for its role in stirring the thought through retelling Malcolmà ¢Ã¢â ¬s widely known conversion from a wayward youth to a criminal to a religious figure, illustrating the range of influences that inspired these transformations. The book however fails in a number of ways to achieve what its author might have had in mind, giving a new and controvers ial outlook into the life of Malcolm X.Literature ReviewIt was tragic that Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s demise came merely days before the release of his biography on Malcolm X, yet with the insurmountable criticism that followed his book, it might have spared him the trouble of supporting his hotly debated claims into the life and deeds of the icon. In Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention, Marable thinks of Malcolm X as an individual involved in a constant battle of contradictions. The Nation of Islam (NOI) is particularly the point that sells in Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s argument, drawing up Malcolm as a leader (minister), who detested leaders of civil rights movements influenced by Christianity (Ball Todd 17). According to Marable, these civil rights movement groups were middle-class sellouts to the white majority while the NOI played a more separationist role in the fight for civil rights. Discouraging black voting in America and civil rights movements in favor of a separationist state, the NOI w as matter-of-factly conservative with utopian ideologies. In subsequent years of Malcolmà ¢Ã¢â ¬s position as a minister in the NOI, his expulsion from the group came partially because of his increasing tendencies towards a militarized form of activism. His support for Pan Africanism was among the other factors that contributed to his assassination as claimed by Marable, his trip to Africa making "his murder all the more necessary from an institutional standpoint" (Marable 89).The Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention however builds up some friction with the assertions of Marable concerning Malcolmà ¢Ã¢â ¬s sexual orientation. It is intriguing to find out that the author strongly believes that Malcolm X had homosexual tendencies, providing weak and shaky arguments towards the support of this claim. Through the book, other questionable claims arise but with little or biased basis for support. The sheer outrage caused by Marable in his biography is enough to warrant a critique on the sources and constructs used to found his claims about Malcolm X, yet to a large extent, the work is already highly disputed as would be by A Lie of Reinvention: Correcting Manning Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s Malcolm X. This counteractive piece by Jared A. Ball and Todd Steven Burroughs breaks down the averments of the biography by Marable providing numerous problems that can be identified in the book. In the list of problems included in the counter-title to Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s A Life of Reinvention, there are questions of sourcing, excessive use of innuendo, severe omissions, unsupported speculations, misdirected conclusions, and the lack of vital primary sources. The flaws of the book are therefore corrected in the counter-title response of the same.Malcolm X, the Autobiography of Malcolm X. With the assistance of Alex Haley is on the other hand a more accurate account of the life of Malcolm X, with actual events and feelings of the icon himself. This provides a basis for which the work o f Marable can be gauged, determining whether it accurately makes judgment of Malcolm and whether the assertion of the author can be supported by the autobiography itself.Problems with Manning Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s Malcolm X: A Life of ReinventionMarable and PoliticsIt is probably easy to discredit Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s book as one with less truth because of the considerable amount of mistakes and lack of concrete evidence by the author in accounting for the life of Malcolm X. The first failure of the book would be its inclination towards a more politicized outlook in profiling Malcolm. Marable himself being an individual spending considerable years in politics from his role in the National Political Assembly of the 1970s, this past may have had some influences on the outcome of his book. In a walk through the covers of the book, it is particularly prominent that the book tries to rain down on the admirable qualities of Malcolm X already known to the world and introducing alleged truths about the icon that would easily tarnish the admiration that he already enjoys in death. Marable may be guilty of politics, trying to reduce the qualities of Malcolm with largely unsubstantiated interjections à ¢Ã¢â ¬ interestingly some of which are referred to as rumors by Marable himself. The gaping errors in Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s arguments are highly politicized such that some claims by him are utterly outrageous and intolerable. One example of this carelessness is the claim that Malcolm and his wife Betty had problems with their sexual lives and were therefore mutually infidels. The greatest weakness of Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s arguments, and thus his book is his failure to ascertain his sources and the uncertainty of some of his claims. A typical example would be one of his sentences that read, "That evening Sharon X may have joined him in his hotel" (Marable 423). It is professionally incompetent as an author that such an uncertainty is expected to assert any authority to the reade r. Ball and Burroughs recognize this weakness in Marable and therefore capitalize on the loop holes in the Marable account. It could be judged that the biographerà ¢Ã¢â ¬s claims on Malcolm were partly based on assumptions because of the ambiguity in language used to lay claim to these points.Malcolm X, a Homosexual? It is quite speculative to claim that Malcolm X was homosexual. However, if sufficient reason should be given to support this claim, Marableà ¢Ã¢â ¬s argument makes little effort to support this allegation. It could be argued that if definitive information on this matter could be produced, then an attempt to bring forth this point should not have been made by the author. The work of Marable is a biography, which is an attempt at a reconstruction of an individualà ¢Ã¢â ¬s life. Biographies are partly art and partly science. In instances where sufficient evidence does not exist to support a claim that one would wish to make, history provides for the weighing of ev idence through context of an event and the chance that personal interpretations may reach accurate conclusions. Marable certainly had to employ such techniques to reach his conclusions in his biography of Malcolm X. It is however worrying that this might have not applied to the case of his claim that found Malcolm X to be a possible homosexual. In the autobiography, Malcolm X is certainly in contact with people in events that are outright homosexual in nature. Rudy is particularly the character that brings about themes homosexuality in the life of Malcolm. Rudy is clearly depicted as being homosexual from the account in the autobiography, "He paid Rudy to undress them both, then pick up the old man like a baby, lay him on his bed, then stand over him and sprinkle him all over with talcum powder, Rudy said the old man would actually reach his climax from that" (Marable 65-66). These are likely circumstantial rather than concrete evidence to support the homosexuality of Malcolm. They a re also perhaps Malcolmà ¢Ã¢â ¬s expression of his homosexual encounters with Paul Lennon, but do not necessarily prove his homosexual orientation as explained in the same book. However, recognizing that the autobiography written by Malcolm X himself with the assistance of Alex Haley, Marable fails to recognize the right of the subject of his biography to accurate portrayal (X Haley 34). In his book, Marable acknowledges that though there is no evidence to pin homosexuality on Malcolm, rumors had it that during his years as an unruly individual in the streets, Malcolm was involved in homosexuality.Emphasized in the book is Malcolmà ¢Ã¢â ¬s involvement with a rich white man during his early years hustling in the streets. A source cited by Marable for this claim is a reputed family member of Malcolmà ¢Ã¢â ¬s, who made the allegation shaky. This could also perhaps have been an oversight of Marable on the case of Rudy, who...

Henry Clays American System Economic Plan
The American System was a program for economic development championed in the era following the War of 1812 by Henry Clay, one of the most influential members of Congress in the early 19th century. Clays idea was that the federal government should implement protective tariffs and internal improvements and a national bank should help develop the nations economy. Clays basic argument for the program was that by protecting American manufacturers from foreign competition, ever-increasing internal markets would spur American industries to grow.à For example, companies in the Pittsburgh region could sell iron to manufacturers on the East Coast, replacing iron imported from Great Britain. Various other regions of the country sought protection from imports that could undercut them in the marketplace. Agriculture and Manufacturing Clay envisioned a diversified American economy in which agricultural interests and manufacturers would exist side by side. Essentially, he saw beyond the argument of whether the United States would be an industrial or agricultural nation. It could be both, he insisted. When he advocated for his American System, Clay focused on the need to build growing home markets for American goods. He contended that blocking cheap imported goods would ultimately benefit all Americans. Nationalist Appeal His programà had strong nationalist appeal. Developing home markets would protect the United States from uncertain foreign events. Self-reliance could ensure that the nation was protected from shortages of goods caused by distant conflicts. That argument resonated strongly, especially in the period following the War of 1812 and Europes Napoleonic Wars. During those years of conflict, American businesses suffered from disruptions. The ideas put into practice included building the National Road, Americas first major highway; chartering the Second Bank of the United States, a new national bank, in 1816; and passing the first protective tariff the same year. Clays American System was essentially in practice during the Era of Good Feelings, which corresponded with the presidency of James Monroe from 1817 to 1825. Controversy Arises Clay, who had served as a representative and senator from Kentucky, ran for president in 1824 and 1832, advocating extending the American System. But by that time sectional and partisan disputes made aspects of his plans controversial. Clays arguments for high tariffs persisted for decades in various forms but often met with stiff opposition. In the late 1820s, tensions over the role the federal government should play in economic development escalated to the point that South Carolina threatened to withdraw from the Union over a tariff in what became known as the Nullification Crisis. Clays American System was perhaps ahead of its time. The general concepts of tariffs and internal improvements became standard government policy in the late 1800s. Clay ran for president in 1844 and remained a potent force in American politics until his death in 1852. He, along with Daniel Webster and John C. Calhoun, became known as the Great Triumvirate of the U.S. Senate.

Essay on Use of Computers in Medicine - 919 Words
Uses of Computers in the Medical Field By: Tashauna Roberts Introduction In todayââ¬â¢s society, there is a wide range of computer use. Almost everywhere you go today you are required to have some sort of basic understanding of how a computer is operated. In my report, I am going to tell you how computers are used in the field of medicine. There is a wide variety of use and need for a computer in the medical field. Their uses include storing patient related data, scanning and imaging the body, and assisting speedy communications. Some of the main points I will be discussing is why Health Care Professionals use computers, where computers are used in the Health Care System , and Computer Assisted Surgery. Computers are used by Healthâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In larger office and hospital settings, they also control patient flow, keeping track of who is in which room or bed, and which rooms and physicians are available for routing patients. Emergency alarms, bed beeping systems, pacemakers, life support systems that monitor and look after patients, and X-ray machines are all examples of equipment using computer technology. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer tomography (CT) use computer software. High resolution images are achieved with the use of computers and infrared cameras. Computers are also used in the medical field for Computer Assisted Surgery (CAS). The most important component of computer assisted surgery is to get an accurate model of the patient. This can be done like I said previously with a MRI, CT Scan, or Ultrasound. The final objective is the creation of a 3D dataset that reproduces the exact geometrical situation of the normal and pathological tissues and structures of that region. Of the available scanning methods, the CT is preferred, because MRI data sets are known to have volumetric deformations that may lead to inaccuracies. The Past Occurrences Of African Americans - 1202 Words
Throughout the past occurrences of African Americans, several recurring themes are prevalent. These themes shape their past and signify patterns that may be correlated to other topics in history. Trial and error proved highly pervasive in the history of African Americans as much of their progression in society stemmed from several unsuccessful attempts that eventually resulted in victory. Slave revolts, pleas for emancipation, and bids for equal rights were never initially successful when they involved violence. Each early attempt failed quite miserably, however, those who persevered learned from past failures of violent displays, and eventually found success if they were to approach it appropriately. From its conception, the horrificâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The successful uprising sent waves of hope throughout the United States, in hopes that similar success would be experienced. However, many never developed, or failed before fruition. This theme continued well beyond the era of Haitian inspired riots. One of the most famous rebellions, Nat Turnerââ¬â¢s Insurrection, proved just that. Turner, a Virginian slave, alleged he had biblical visions that incited him to believe God ââ¬Å"called on him to lead a rebellionâ⬠(Clayborne 173). On August 22, 1831, He led a rebellion with ââ¬Å"sixty avenging slavesâ⬠(Clayborne 174) first overtaking his master, then moved onto the town of Jerusalem, mercilessly killing fifty-five civilians. Shortly thereafter, his militia was overthrown by the White forces. Turner actually evaded them for over a month, but eventually was found and executed. Turnerââ¬â¢s rebellion shocked slaveholders, and resulted in tighter restricti ons on slaves. Free and enslaved African Americans were barred from spreading the gospel to prevent such a religiously affiliated rebellion like Nat Turnerââ¬â¢s. In the United States, a slave-led rebellion would not be possible. With each attempt, the slaves would inevitably be overpowered with each attempt, resulting in failure. They knew if they were to ever be freed from slavery, it would need to by other means. After the realization that fruitless violent rebellions accomplished nothing, Blacks in America turned to political methods

Persuasive Essay On Junk Food - 944 Words
While deciding what to eat one night when I was left to fend for myself I came to the realization: if I wanted something healthy I am going to have to spend more money to get the same amount of food of a meal of unhealthy food. I decided on either getting a salad from subway (starting at around 6.50 depending on what type of meat you choose and an extra 1.50-2.50 for a drink) that usually fills me up for an hour and then I am rummaging around for something else. Or a fill up meal from KFC (starting at around 5.76 and comes with fried chicken, potatoes, biscuit, a cookie, and a drink). The work can also be completed easily, if the person carries a positive attitude. Mostly it is analyzed in the organization that people have the feeling of competition between them, so they try to demotivate other people who are in the organiz ation. There are many situations in which the people who have negative behavior change themselves and carry a positive attitude. If one employee behaves in negative manner and from inside he has a positive attitude towards other people, then it can be seen that the attitude do not impact on the behavior of the person (Zohar, 2014). Duty of the manager to enhance the commitment level It is analyzed that the obligation and the satisfaction of the company is connected with each other. It is seen that now a days the technology is so updated, that half of the workload is minimized. The technology is also important but human resources play a great role in conducting the day to day activities. Technology helps to save time but the work done by the individual is not replaced. If the company motivate the employees to work in proper way, then it can be easy to attain the goals and objectives of the organization in effective manner. If the manager takes into consideration the theories, then the productivity of the employee can be enhanced. If the employees have the confidence of conducting the activities in proper way, then it can be easy to accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization. The managers should offer the incentives to the employees so that the work can be conducted effectively. The morale of employee is boosted when the goals and objectives of the organization are attained. It helps the managers to accomplish their targets properly (Brunetto, Teo, Shacklock and Farr?Wharton, 2012). The manager should give focus on enhancing the responsibility and work satisfaction. The managers should provide happy environment for the workers or the employees, so that the activities that are conducted should be done with efficiency. The directors or managers should help the employees and listen to their problems, so that employee can feel motivated and happy with their work (Dhar, 2015).It is analyzed that if the higher authority give motivation to the employees working in the organization, then it help the employees or the workers to attain the monthly target in proper manner. Motivation is considered as an essential and very important part of the organization. If the employees are not motivated then it is very difficult for the organization to attain the goals and objectives. Marketing Strategy for East Coast Trawl
Questions: 1. How should East Coast Trawl be positioned given its strong competitive environment? 2. What competitive advantages can be identified for East Coast Trawl? 3. Outline a suitable marketing strategy to implement the positioning? Answers: Introduction Supply chain design that a company or organization employs is very important in determining how competitive an organization is. Supply chain management is therefore used determining the success of an organization in the market (Shah, 2009). Supply chain management refers to an integrative method of managing the supply and distribution of a companys products in the market. Supply chain management helps the company to costs in the organization as well as helping the company to reach its final consumers. The supply chain design that a company adopts helps it to have a competitive advantage over its rivals. Competitive advantage is defined as the business secret or aspect that is unique in each and every organization which enables it to compete effectively in the market (Pride ferrell, 2010). Given the level of competition in the food industry and precisely the fishing business, it is very important for East Coast Trawl Fisheries to adopt a suitable supply chain design that will help it to compete effectively. 1. Market Positioning Given the characteristics of the company East Coast Trawl, the Michael Porters generic strategies can be applied in positioning the company in the market. Product or market positioning is defined as hoe a customer identifies with that particular brand or product (Tybout Calder, 2010). This simply means what comes to mind of a consumer when he/she hears or sees the product. Positioning is very important in helping the company segment its market. Through market segmentation, the company will be able to target consumers who fit its profile. The makes the marketing of a companies` products much easier and less costly (Quayle, 2006). The competition from imports which are majorly from Asia makes it very necessary for the management of the company to position itself as a cost leader in the market. This is because most of the imports from Asia are cheap due to the fact that their costs of production are low. For this reason, East Coast Trawl Fisheries have to adopt a strategy that will ena ble them to absorb this competition from foreign imports so that it can remain relevant in the market. The company should therefore market and advertise itself as offering the best quality products at the lowest price in the market. 2. Competitive Advantage The competitive advantage possessed by East Coast Trawl Fisheries is its large size compared to its competitors. The company is large in size and this means that it produces the fish in large number. The company can use its size to take advantage of the economies of scale that they experience due to the large scale of production. ECTF should position itself as a cost leader in the market. The cost leadership strategy involved helps a firm in attaining market share or market leadership through appealing to consumers who are sensitive to price of products. This strategy works best where the target population of the company is mainly composed of low income earners (Lamb, Hair Mcdaniel, 2012). This means that their demand or levels of consumption will be greatly influenced by how cheap or expensive the product is. The strategy involves offering the lowest prices in the market while at the same time making profits and achieving high returns on investments (Baines, Fill Page, 2010). This can only be achieved if the company is able to produce at very low cost. This strategy will work perfectly well for East Coast Trawl Fisheries because they incur a large proportion of fixed costs. If the company produces in large scale therefore, the costs will be shared among many units and this will result to a decrease in per unit cost of production and therefore the company will be able to offer its products at a lower price. 3. The cost leadership strategy The cost leadership strategy will help East Coast Trawl Fisheries increase its market share hence solidifying its market leadership position. The disadvantage of this strategy to the company is that the company will not enjoy customer loyalty since customers who are sensitive to price may change their preference once their levels of income increase (Marich, 2013). East Coast Trawl Fisheries can also combine cost leadership marketing strategy with differentiation strategy. This will be made possible by the competitive advantage of the company being able to produce different species of fish which its competitors lack. The company can therefore take advantage of this and differentiate its products. The company can package different varieties differently and sell at different prices. This strategy is however suitable to a market segment that is not sensitive to price (Brenkert, 2008).Since the company operates over a large geographical area, this strategy can work well for (ECTF). The company should segment its market and target areas where peoples levels of income are high. The company should therefore market its products in this segment as being of very high quality and tailor made to cater for the specific needs of consumers. Since the company practices wild catch and farmed aquaculture, differentiation will be very effective to this market. Supply Chain Mapping Supply chain mapping is a process involving tracking the movement of all materials, processes and shipment involved in delivering a product to the market. It involves in accounting for physical flow of goods and the information flow (Kersten, 2011). Use of online supply chain will improve the marketing and delivery of goods by (ECTF). Recommendations (ECTF) should adopt a multi-dimensional marketing strategy in order to cope with rising competition levels. The company should put in place a team to manage marketing and promotional activities of the company in order to make it more competitive. Supply chain mapping should be adopted by the company to help to account for the flow of its products. Information from this process can be used to improve marketing of (ECTF) Conclusion The way a company positions itself or its products is important in determining the success of that organization in the market. This is because the positioning of the product in the market will determine the marketing strategy that the company will adopt. In the face of the increasing competition in many sectors of the economy, marketing is very important to each and every company in order to gain and maintain its market share. Supply chain design is another core competence that a company can use to gain competitive advantage over its rivals. This is achieved through reduction of costs incurred by the company in delivering the product to the final consumer. This will mean that its prices will be low hence its products are more competitive in the market. References: Lamb, C. W., Hair, J. F., McdanieL, C. D. (2012). Essentials of marketing.
